2025-2026 State Project "Small Boots, Big Courage"
The 2025–2026 T.S.C.A.R. state project, “Small Boots, Big Courage,” encourages members to recognize and support the children of active-duty, veteran, and fallen service members. This year’s beneficiary, Camp Courage, is a week-long summer camp dedicated to building leadership and horsemanship skills in military-connected youth. At Camp Courage, licensed counselors guide children through horseback riding, horse care, classroom instruction, and equine-facilitated learning. Throughout the week, campers reflect on and develop key character traits such as honor, integrity, respect, responsibility, courage, and perseverance. Camp Courage is a branch of the Ride On Center for Kids (ROCK), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides equine-assisted services to children, adults, and veterans with physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges. Through this project, the Texas Society will raise funds to offset the cost of camp attendance, making it more accessible to military families. “Small Boots, Big Courage” also promotes leadership and communication while fostering greater understanding of the unique challenges and sacrifices military children face—and the courage they show every day. |
